Student Success Stories
"My adventures with computers started when I was in junior high school. I had found something that was just as interesting as video games. Over the years I would try to get the latest and greatest systems so I could tear them apart and put them back together, and then eventually teaching myself how to program. I was a Communications and Electronics specialist in the military, which just motivated my passion for computer systems and drove me to actively pursue the field as a civilian. After working a number of jobs within Information Technology, I lacked the networking experience the employers were looking for. Not pursuing my education, I found myself working in purchasing for the past seven years. I heard the ComputerTraining.edu advertisement on the radio and decided to take the Online Skills Challenge. Upon completing the random questions that were asked, I received a call from a placement director within twenty minutes. I met with my director, and knew that this program was exactly what I needed to get back into the industry. Within three days, I was signed up and ready to start learning.

The key to my success was my instructor. He was able to take the most complex theories and put them into a context that any student could grasp. He was available anytime you needed more explanation and when a lab needed to be looked at in more depth. With his teachings, a lot of hard work and dedication, I have been able to achieve my MCP, MCSA, MCSE and a six month internship with ComputerTraining.edu. The other side of the classroom program holds another key to my success: the Placement Services. The Director of Placement went above and beyond on helping me get placed with a great company where I get to use everything that I have learned at ComputerTraining.edu. I knew a lot about computers, but ComputerTraining.edu took me to a much higher professional level. I owe everything to the staff for their motivation on making sure I succeed, and to my beautiful wife and kids for making sure that I studied and took those exams and get my certifications. I am currently a Network Administrator. My future plans are to excel within my new career, achieve my MCTS for Exchange Server 2007, Windows Vista, Live Communications Server 2007 and to upgrade my MCSA and MCSE to Windows Server 2008. To all the staff at ComputerTraining.edu, I would like to say thank you for everything."

"Without any type of computer background or formal education in the field, I was asked a couple of years ago to help troubleshoot various desktop problems in addition to managing a customer service department. This developed into working on servers, email, firewalls, etc. and much of it was read a book or web page, try to fix. If it didn’t work, I started over. I enjoyed what I was doing and wanted to work in this field full time. A year ago, the company I worked for sold off part of its product line. I was worried that if I had to find a new job, that I did not have any formal training in networking. I read about Microsoft’s Certification Program, which lead into contacting ComputerTraining.edu.

The one item I like most about working as a Network Administrator is that everyday is something different. Today I might be troubleshooting a desktop issue, and tomorrow I might be working on the email server. Since I am the only “computer guy” for the company, my day is varied. I am doing something I really enjoy. A year ago I could not say that.

Commitment was my biggest concern. How can I make the financial commitment? Working fulltime already, can I commit to the studies? Everyone at ComputerTraining.edu was very helpful and answered all my questions before I decided to sign up. Admissions helped me with getting started and answered all my financial questions. I had concerns about the job market and what to expect and Career Services put my mind at ease. And the instructor helped me out with my questions regarding the pace of the class and what to expect outside of the class.

Work hard and stay committed. Good things will happen. I stayed focused and gave up a lot in the six month. I studied two to three hours for every hour in class, worked with classmates in study groups and had many late nights working on the material. Try to take exams all throughout the track so the material is fresh to you. I started in July 2007, by January 2008, I had my MCP, MCSA, MCSE certificates, and I decided to stay with my current employer where I got full tuition reimbursement and a promotion to Network Administrator which included a raise. The hard work paid off for me and I am glad that I spent the time I did.

Even though I have stayed with the same employer, my life and career have changed greatly due to my experience at ComputerTraining.edu. I have gained job security with a company I enjoy working for. Financially, I am better off than I was six months ago. Having knowledge from the track has actually reduced the amount of stress in my life. I know that I can confidently troubleshoot problems, develop network solutions for my employer and maintain our network. I am now studying for MCSE+Security and MCSE+Messaging. Seven months ago, I didn’t even know what that meant!"

"Before coming to ComputerTraining.edu, I had been working in the automotive field for thirteen years. I was tried of doing that kind of work and felt it was time for a change. I had looked at several different careers. I chose the computer field because it was something that is always going to be here. I looked at several schools and chose ComputerTraining.edu because they fit into my work schedule great. When I met with the people at the local location, I was really impressed in the genuine concern they had in helping me.

I thought I knew a lot about computers before starting the course. I soon learned that I really knew very little. The work was hard, but the instructor and other students were great in helping when I needed it. I soon learned that they were right about it taking just as much time outside of class doing homework and reading. But, I feel that the time was very well spent. The homework and practice tests were really well tailored for each lesson.

ComputerTraining.edu has given me the knowledge and skills to get a great job that I really enjoy. I would encourage anyone thinking about attending to do so. To new students, I would say be prepared to put in a lot of long hours of studying and reading. They will pay off very well in the long run. The instructors and career placement people are really great and give you all the help and encouragement you need. They are there for you even after the course is over."

"I didn't have much previous computer experience other than knowing how to navigate the web. I had been a data cabling technician for several years before being promoted to Operations Manager. While I was a technician I always found the networking side of my job very interesting. I found out that the five years of service with my previous employer was going nowhere fast, and I kept hearing the add on the radio for ComputerTraining.edu asking "What are you Waiting for?" so I kept asking myself "WHAT AM I WAITING FOR?" and finally decided to take the Online Skills Challenge. I received a call from the admissions director the following week, and decided to come in and talk to him. I sat in on the current class and was amazed at the information the instructor was teaching, and decided before I left that this is what I want to do, and proceeded to enroll.

After completing the course requirements I found myself with an opportunity with better pay, better benefits and most important, the opportunity to build upon what I learned in class. I couldn’t be happier with the choices I have made and the new job I have accepted. As the new field service manager I now have an opportunity to implement the skills that ComputerTraining.edu has taught me. The best part of this job is the room for advancement, which is something I didn’t have at my previous employer.

My biggest concerns were working a full time job, 50-60 hrs a week, taking care of four boys under the age of four, and learning a whole new career. I spoke to other class mates in the same position as me and quickly found that I was not alone. I even spoke to my instructor about my concerns two months into the class, as I was doubting myself, and he reassured me of my capabilities as he could see I had the drive and determination to excel, speaking with him openly was key to my success moving forward.

I would give all students this advice: At ComputerTraining.edu, there are a lot of resources at your finger tips, from the admissions director, instructor and career counselor; they are there for you at anytime. There are also students going through the same thing as you. Remember there is never a problem....only a solution. Make the decision early to make the sacrifice to learn and study, the end result will be so amazing and so worth the effort, anything worth having is worth working hard for. You can do anything you put your mind too.

My overall experience here has been so wonderful; I only wish I had learned about this program ten years ago and its benefits. My family will now see me more often and will be provided a quality of life I never imagined possible. My instructor was so inspiring to me, and that made the difference for me. He made learning fun as well piquing my interests. If you don't seriously consider ComputerTraining.edu you might have missed the opportunity of a life time. Where else can you change your career in six months, obtain a great paying job, and have job security.

I plan on working hard to continue studying to obtain all my certifications. "

"I worked with computers before I got certified. I had the chance to build PC’s from A to Z and help my family and friends in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with their computers. I considered that having certificates would make me more marketable and credible in the hiring process and would demonstrate that you have the ability, knowledge, skills and expertise to complete any type of tasks and projects.

The most exciting aspect about working in the IT field is having the chance to learn new technologies, being confronted on a daily basis with new challenges, researching and finding solutions to different technical issues because the greatest challenge today is being current and up to date in such a rapidly changing environment.

The biggest concern of mine regarding the program was the amount of information to be absorbed in such a short time frame. I think that the best way to overcome this obstacle was to be organized, focused, committed and persistent.

An old proverb says ”The road to victory is always under construction”. It is going to be a long road and it will take a lot of determination, but at the end, it is worth it.

Overall, I think it was a very good decision. Jobs in the IT field were, are and always will be in demand. Once you start practicing in this field, time works in your favor. The more experience you accumulate the more valuable you become and that is a great feeling. It offers you perspectives for professional growth and financial stability. This is what we all are aiming for, isn’t it? "

"I’ve built quite a few computers by myself for friends and family. I taught myself in HTML and web design. My friend and I used to talk about starting our own computer business when we were younger. It wasn’t until after I got out of the Airforce that I finally decided to start working towards what I had been longing for.

The best thing about my new career in that everyone is so nice. Also, the benefits are awesome; healthcare, dental and 401k life insurance. Not to mention the experience that I’m getting.

My biggest fears were not being able to remember what I was learning. My instructor made things a lot easier on me and also his real life experiences helped me to relax and just take everything as it comes. My advice would be to relax, do your research and do what the staff tells you…they’re professionals.

I’ve learned a lot, made a lot of friends and gained a lot of new experiences and new views on not just the business world, but also life. I can honestly say ComputerTraining.edu was the best decision I’ve ever made."

"When I first started ComputerTraining.edu I had virtually no computer experience aside from the basics of navigating the internet and listening to music. I’ve always had a deep passion and desire to learn more about computers I just didn’t know where to start. Certifications are a necessity if you want to make it in the IT industry. I was at a dead end job that did not pay well and I certainly had no desire to continue on the career path that I was on. After a little research, I finally decided it was time for a career change into the networking side of the IT industry. I wanted to enjoy my job. I wanted a great paying career. I wanted to be respected for the job profession I was about to migrate to. I took the first step and decided to enroll at ComputerTraining.edu. I had to start somewhere and I am fortunate that I started here!

Now that I have graduated and obtained my MCSE, a lot of doors have opened for me. I have a great network of IT friends and resources and a great wealth of knowledge. I have job offers on a daily basis and companies are competing over me constantly, and it feels wonderful! I am a hardware technician and I really enjoy my job. People depend and rely on me to assist and help solve problems. I am the “go-to girl” now and that is very rewarding to me. I am very glad I made the career change for a million different reasons. I have dreams and goals now and they are being reached. I honestly can say ComputerTraining.edu is to thank for that. I utilized every opportunity they have provided me and it certainly has paid off already. It won’t be long before I accomplish my ultimate goal of being a Network Administrator for a respectable company. I have all the confidence in the world in myself and at work!

Before entering ComputerTraining.edu I was very nervous, shy and had many doubts and worries. I wasn’t sure if I was truly ready for the commitment that I needed to make. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to pass the tests. I was not sure if I was going to be able to grasp all the information that was going to be presented to me. Needless to say I succeeded. It was very hard work and I put in endless hours of studying and conferencing with my peers. I worked through my weaknesses and faced my fears head on. Now I am a whole new woman. I am confident, technically skilled, not shy and most of all not afraid to face my fears. I accept and enjoy all life’s new challenges that have been presented to me. My hard work has truly paid off and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for me. I have completely changed as a person and I like who I am.

I have some very valuable advice I would like to give to anybody who is entering ComputerTraining.edu. This course is extremely valuable and difficult. Nothing will be handed to you and it is a must you put in the time and effort required to make it. You must commit to yourself and this program. If you truly put 100% into this class you will succeed. I was somebody who entered this course with virtually no computer experience, but now look how far I have gone in such a short time. If I can do it, you can too. Make friends with your new classmates because they will help you in areas that you may struggle in. The more people you network with, the more beneficial it will be to yourself. These will be the first people you meet in the IT industry and will be of great value and resource to you. Work very hard and take this class very seriously. If you do that everything else will fall into place. “You reap what you sow.” Hopefully you will be reaping the seeds of success!

Ever since my success at ComputerTraining.edu I have opened many doors for myself. I enjoy my job and I am steadily meeting my goals. My whole life has taken a turn for the better and it started day one at ComputerTraining.edu! Remember, nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it. Manage your time wisely and don’t give up when things get tough. Good luck to all of you new students entering the program!"
